Forest North Drainage Improvement Project
This is an update on the Forest North Drainage Improvement Project. You are receiving this email because you signed up to receive regular updates on the project.
First, the selection process for the contractor to perform the work is currently underway! The County anticipates a selection to occur in late June 2016, and construction is scheduled to begin in late summer.
Staking of County Right-of-Way and Homeowner Items
In April 2016, the right-of-way within the designated construction areas was staked with pink flags, indicating areas in or near where drainage improvements will occur. Only properties within the six work zones were staked.
Soon after, door hangers were delivered to properties within these designated areas with information about the potential impact to homeowner items in the right-of-way. A custom label was included on the back of each hanger to identify any homeowner items in the right-of-way. If you wish to preserve these items, they must be removed from the right-of-way prior to the start of construction in your area. If the identified items (mailboxes, landscaping, planters, trees, irrigation systems, etc.) are not removed by the time construction begins in your area, then the contractor will consider these items left for refuse.
Mailboxes: Mailboxes in the path of drainage work will be removed and replaced with standard units. We will be in close communication with the post office to ensure there is no disruption to mail service. Please, contact the Public Involvement Team if you wish to remove your mailbox prior to the start of construction in your area, so that we may coordinate the installation of a temporary mailbox.
As a reminder, work will occur by zone, and it may not be necessary for you to remove your mailbox at the immediate start of construction in the neighborhood.
Driveways: The re-grading of channels and replacement of driveway culverts will require the re-construction of some driveways. Driveways will be accessible by the end of each workday. Full driveway repairs will be made upon completion of the entirety of the work at each property. Notice will be provided to homeowners and residents at least 48 hours prior to any driveway-access interruptions.
Irrigation Systems: Irrigation systems in the path of drainage work will be removed, capped at the right-of-way line and will not be replaced.
