Forest North Drainage Improvement Project

April 2016

Dear Neighbor,

Williamson County is moving forward with the Forest North Drainage Improvement Project as a part of its 2013 Road Bond Program. Many of you received a packet in the mail, indicating that work will occur in the near future adjacent to your property. Construction is scheduled to begin in summer 2016. Once a contractor has been selected for the project, our team will communicate when construction is scheduled for your area (there are six zones ; construction will progress by zone). If you have any questions regarding the mailed information, please contact our Public Involvement Team by calling (512) 943-1195 or emailing This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Staking of the right-of-way and easements has occurred in the construction area noted by pink flags.

These staked areas indicate the right-of-way and easement limits for the areas that are designated for construction improvements. As of early April 2016, property owners within these designated areas have received additional notification from the Public Involvement Team in the form of a door hanger. This door hanger includes a label (on the back side) specific to each property, outlining homeowner items, if any, that must be removed from the right-of-way or easement prior to the start of construction in your area if you wish to preserve them. These items include landscaping, plants, trees, fencing, irrigation systems, decorative lawn pieces and mailboxes, to name a few. If you have any questions regarding this information, please contact our Public Involvement Team by calling (512) 943-1195 or emailing This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Important note regarding mailboxes: Contact the Public Involvement Team if you wish to remove your mailbox prior to construction, so that we may coordinate the installation of a temporary mailbox. This will allow better coordination for the timing of removal, as work will occur by zone, and it may not be necessary for you to remove your mailbox at the immediate start of construction.

Important note regarding driveways: The re-grading of channels and replacement of driveway culverts will require the re-construction of some driveways. Driveways will be accessible by the end of each workday, and repairs will be made upon completion of the entirety of the work. Notice will be provided to homeowners and residents at least 48 hours prior to any driveway-access interruptions.

All project materials and updates, including any lane or road closures, will be posted on the Forest North Drainage Improvement Project page of the Road Bond website. We encourage you to sign up for news and updates under the “Subscriptions” tab.

January 2016 Project Update Print

Forest North Drainage Project Update

Update as of January 28, 2016:

Staking of the Right-of-Way - a Contractor with the county will begin to stake the right-of-way and easements beginning mid-to-late February; this is to help identify items located in the right-of-way that may need to be moved prior to the start of construction.  Not all residents in the Forest North area will see staking on their property.  Notification and more information will be distributed to property owners that will be impacted prior to staking the ROW.

Construction begins - late Spring/early Summer; at this time, items in the right-of-way must be removed.

We will continue to provide ongoing communication and updates to the neighborhood, and welcome your questions and concerns.

Following the flooding from Hermine in 2010, Williamson County initiated a study of the drainage in the Forest North area, including a survey and consulting by K. Friese & Associates.  A report of this study was presented to neighbors at a meeting hosted by Commissioner Birkman on March 29, 2010.

Residents were invited to complete a survey on the flooding they experienced, and these surveys have been collected and evaluated by K. Friese & Associates. A plan for moving forward with improvements is being developed.

Visit the Williamson County website for current information on this project.
