Dear Neighbor,
Williamson County is moving forward with the final phase of the Forest North Drainage Improvement Project. Work began in the summer of 2016, and Phase I and II are now complete. Funding for Forest North Phase III was secured as a result of the successful passage of Williamson County’s voter-approved 2019 Road Bond Program. The project’s design is being finalized and construction can be scheduled to move forward. Work is expected to begin on this project in late spring 2020.
The health and safety of residents is paramount to Williamson County. In response to the coronavirus (COVID-19), the County has implemented restrictions for construction projects to protect our community from the spread of the virus. Based on these guidelines, which allow construction sites to remain open with strict social distancing and additional safety measures, this project will move forward in the coming weeks. We are working closely with construction teams to follow health and safety requirements and guidelines while moving forward with the drainage improvements.
This email is intended to provide information about the upcoming roadway and drainage work associated with Phase III of the project in the Forest North neighborhood. To review the project fact sheet, Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) and other important information, including potential impacts to items in the right of way (ROW) and easements, a schedule of activities and what to expect during construction, please visit the Forest North Drainage Improvement Project page of the Road Bond website (www.roadbond.org/forestnorth).
Please Note: ROW is when the County owns the property, which usually means it was purchased, donated or dedicated to the County for purposes of a roadway or public footpaths that benefit the community. An easement is a portion of the property owner’s land that the County has the right to use for a specific purpose, such as drainage features and/or construction and maintenance that benefit the community.
Staking of the ROW and easements will take place before construction begins in each zone. All property owners within the Phase III project zones will receive a packet in the mail with more information. These staked areas indicate the ROW and easement limits for the areas that are designated for construction improvements. If during the staking process it is determined that you are an affected property owner, meaning you have items in the ROW or easement, you will receive additional information from the public involvement (PI) team. The ROW and easements must be clear for work by the start of construction in your zone. If you wish to preserve items in the ROW or easement, such as landscaping or custom mailboxes, removal must occur prior to the start of construction. If the identified items are not removed by the time construction begins in your area, the contractor will consider these items left for refuse.
For more information about this project, please contact our PI team by calling (512) 943-1195 or emailing roads [at] wilco [dot] org. All project materials and updates, including any lane or road closures, will be posted on the Forest North Drainage Improvement Project page of the Road Bond website (www.roadbond.org/forestnorth).
Sincerely,
The Williamson County Road Bond Team
